RTTC National 10TT Championships. (Sawtry)
A 1200 mile round trip for a 10 mile TT !! All this in search of the National 10TT title i was desperate to win. Ridding the West Ferry 10TT on Wednesday night in rain & temperatures of 8 degs was, in retrospect, not the best idea I've ever had.
Accommodation for this event was only a short drive from the course, arriving on the Friday we (Myself, Gary & Donald) drove the course, then on Saturday we rode the course twice.
Sunday morning and the weather was near perfect for a fast race. A slight rising wind was to make the day tougher than first expected.
Michael Hutchinson won on the day with a very impressive 19:43. I was second in 19:51 and rounding of the medals was Alex Dowsett with a 20:10.
The drive home was of mixed thoughts, what if ? should i ? Next year perhaps.
Unfortunately team mate Gary Robson, on course for an excellent ride, fell foul of a puncture and was the only non-finisher from near 150 entrants.
